PRAYER ROPE BRACELET
Made by a small community of monastic nuns who have requested that the name of their convent and its exact location in California remain a secret and their sister house in Arizona.

Many religious traditions use beads or knots on a string as part of their prayer ritual. This "prayer bracelet" was made by a small community of Orthodox nuns in California. Using eight yards of lamb's wool, the sisters tie together 33 knots, symbolic of the 33 years Christ lived. Each knot consists of nine intricately woven crosses. Legend has it that an angel appeared to a nun and showed her how to make the knots so that even the devil couldn't untie them! While making the bracelets, the sisters pray that the Blessed Mother will protect and "bless you!"

Approximately 7" in diameter; the wool will stretch if pulled so it is best to roll on and off gently over the hand. Because these bracelets are handcrafted and require many hours to make, quantities are limited and are therefore offered at a premium.
