BLUEBERRY PRESERVES
Prepared by the Trappist monks of Saint Joseph’s Abbey

In the autumn of 1954 the Abbey garden was blessed with an abundance of mint so the monks decided to make a batch of mint jelly and offered it to their neighbors. The townsfolk loved the jelly so the brothers began making other varieties of fruit and wine jellies, jams, preserves, marmalades and conserves, using no artificial preservatives, flavoring or coloring. Soon every gourmet market in New England was carrying Trappist Preserves. Last spring we introduced our favorite Trappist jam and everyone sang its praises. Now we would like to offer you our favorite Trappist preserve—Blueberry. Unlike jams, preserves contain the whole fruit or large pieces of fruit. So why not start your day with a generous spoonful of blueberry preserves on a slice of warm toast? You’ll soon be counting your blueberries and your blessings!
